Jane Doe sued the members of a religious organization for sexual abuse she claimed happened at the hands of the organization’s leader. The leader had been extradited from South America and was in prison, having pled guilty to assaulting Jane Doe. Deborah Eckland and Greg Young successfully represented the members, as it was questionable whether they had knowledge of what was happening. Moreover, the abuse had happened so many years ago that there was a question about whether Jane Doe’s claim was barred by the statute of limitations. Early in the litigation, Goetz & Eckland was able to get the case settled.
