Elizabeth (Betsy) brings three decades experience in resolving complex commercial disputes to her clients. After graduating at the top of her law school class, Betsy clerked with a federal judge before joining a national law firm and focusing her practice on business litigation. She has been the principal author of briefs filed with the United States Supreme Court, the Minnesota Supreme Court and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, among others, but is most proud of her ability frequently to persuade lower courts to dispose of matters before trial through strategic and compelling motion practice. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, and thus understands advocacy from both perspectives. Her insurance defense experience includes the litigation of legal malpractice claims and the resolution of business claims with origins as diverse as trademark and trade secret infringement, breach of contract and warranty, construction related claims, business torts, and fiduciary and employment-related practices. Betsy has taught trial practice at the University of Minnesota Law School. Apart from practicing law, she enjoys spending time with her family, hanging out with her horse, and exploring Minnesota’s hiking trails.
