Large Fire In Sporting Goods Store
Project Details
Project Description

Deborah Eckland and Greg Young litigated a product-liability lawsuit brought by a national sporting goods store against our client (U.S. District Court, District of Nebraska). A December 23, 2012 fire broke out at a Nebraska store causing significant business disruption and property damage. The store sued our client alleging that a product defect caused the fire. Goetz & Eckland retained electrical engineering and fire investigation experts to rebut the claim. Additionally, Goetz & Eckland dug deep to receive a copy of the Omaha Fire Department’s Narrative Report outlining the fire department’s findings at the scene.

The matter was vigorously litigated and ultimately resulted in a confidential settlement at mediation.
